Joanne McFall Named Philadelphia Business Journal Woman of Distinction

Keystone First leader driving innovation in the health care field and collaboration in the community

Joanne McFall, market president for Keystone First, a Blue Cross Medical Assistance (Medicaid) product and the largest Medical Assistance managed care product in southeastern Pennsylvania, has been named one of Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2017 Women of Distinction.

McFall is among 30 honorees being celebrated as the region’s most influential businesswomen. The award recognizes her professional accomplishments and community investment.

Innovative programs developed under McFall’s leadership include Keys to Your Care®, a holistic engagement program that uses text messaging as one of the ways it informs expectant mothers of the importance of regular prenatal care and offers tips for maintaining a healthy diet and managing stress.

“We work collaboratively with providers, community leaders, and our members to continually identify more efficient and effective ways to deliver quality care,” said McFall. “Whether it is my team at Keystone First or our members in the community, I make it a priority to listen. It is one thing to ask for feedback — a true leader receives feedback and then acts on that information in meaningful ways that drive change.”

Through campaigns like Healthy Families, Safe Communities, McFall and her team are targeting safety issues and social factors with a multi-purposed approach, including educational materials and resources for people of all ages. Bringing together leaders from different walks of life to join these efforts, McFall is helping to address the complexities of gun safety, teenage dating violence, bullying, and prescription drug abuse.
