Teenagers should get about 1 hour of physical activity a day. There are many ways that you can fit this into your daily routine. Here are some helpful tricks for getting that 60 minutes in:
- Get moving. Join a sport or physical activity (dance, cheerleading, and rollerblading) with friends.
- Ride your bike or walk. If you are about to take a 5-minute car ride, consider walking or riding your bike instead.
- TV is old; try something new. Instead of watching TV, play basketball, go bowling, or try some other physical activity.
- Take the stairs; each step counts.
Help your parents with chores. Cleaning, vacuuming, mowing the lawn, and gardening are all ways that you can exercise. You may even score some brownie points with your parents.
Sometimes exercising alone can get boring. Grab a friend and try out these fun backyard games games or challenge yourself in a scavenger hunt.
